Montgomery County Bike Projects Moving Slowly

The WashCycle reports that with the Bradley Boulevard bike project having recently been presented, it joins a growing list of future bike projects in Montgomery County. But only one project has money budgeted for it so far. That's the MacArthur Boulevard Bikeway project.

The project will include an 8-foot-wide shared-use hiker/biker path running parallel to MacArthur on the south side, Miller said. The shoulder of the road will also be widened to provide a 2-foot shoulder on each side of the road for faster cyclists.

US Army All-American Bowl Selects Our Lady of Good Counsel HS Standout

Blake Countess of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Olney, MD, has been selected to play in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, joining an elite group of All-Americans. Those selected will play in the game on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The annual East vs. West match-up will be televised live on NBC at 1:00 p.m. EST and will feature the nation’s top 90 high school football players.

“Blake is a talented athlete whose exemplary leadership and teamwork qualities have made him a standout at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School,” said Col. Derik Crotts, Director of Strategic Communications, Marketing and Outreach, U.S. Army Accessions Command. “The strength, dedication, leadership and teamwork skills necessary to succeed on the football field are the same qualities mirrored in Army Strong Soldiers. We are proud to honor all of our U.S. Army All-American Bowl players and congratulate them on their selection.”

Ying Yang Yoga Offers Lunchtime Yoga

Ying Yang Yoga studio in Olney, MD is now offering lunchtime yoga classes starting Wednesday, October 6. The class is a Mixed level Yoga class and it will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. every Wednesday.

The studio is located at 1912 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd. (next door to the Olney Ale House, on the corner of  Rt. 108 and Dr. Bird Rd.)

2012 Olney High School Football Player Already Recieves Offers

2012 prospect Mike Madaras from Good Counsel High School (Olney, MD) has been very impressive this offseason.

The 6-6, 270-pound offensive tackle out of Olney (MD) Our Lady of Good Counsel already has early offers. Saturday, Madaras went north to Pittsburgh for Pitt’s home-opener against New Hampshire.

Prince George's County Track Club Wins Big at AAU Jr. Olympics

Track Express Track Club (TETC), Prince George County's finest track club has been competing in the AAU Jr. Olympics track meets for over 15 years, breaking records and winning a number of gold medals year after year.

This year, it is no different in Norfolk, VA, with member, Rashad Manning breaking the record in the Javelin Throw for the youth boys. He also won the gold in the Discus and silver in the Shot put.
