Good Counsel Blanks Bishop McNamara 22-0

Story & Video by Bishop McNamara Campus Correspondent Andrew Feather

OLNEY, Md. (WUSA) -- Following weeks with games in which neither team lived up to expectations, Bishop McNamara and Good Counsel looked more true to form in a defensive battle that was a lot closer than the 22-0 Falcon win indicated.

"We played hard on both sides of the ball and we limited our mistakes," McNamara safety and wide receiver Milan Collins said. "In the end we just couldn't get it done."

A major roadblock that helped stop McNamara in its quest for an upset of the number 24 team in USA Today High School Sports' Super 25 national rankings was junior running back Leo Ekwoge. Ekwoge fought through the game with a non-stop motor and filled in quite nicely for injured Clemson commit Dorian O'Daniel, finishing with 122 yards and accounting for all three of the Falcons' touchdowns.

PHOTOS: How Was This Olney Speed Cam Knocked Down?

OLNEY, Md. (WUSA) -- We received photos on Tuesday morning of a speed camera that was once upright now sitting on its side in Olney, Md. The camera is located on Georgia Avenue between Prince Philip Drive and Spartan Road near the Giant.

Montgomery County Police say the camera was mounted on a concrete pillar on the ground, so someone may had to have used something heavy to knock it over.

Technicians came out to the site and fixed the camera.

5 Things A Bully Doesn’t Want You to Know

As the sound of school bells ringing signals that school is back in session for the year, it also means that students and parents will face some common issues. It is estimated, each day in America, that 160,000 students stay home from school in order to avoid being bullied, so it makes a lot of people wonder what goes on in the mind of a bully. Judging by the research regarding who bullies, it would stand to reason that it’s quite a bit.

“We tend to look at the situation of bullying, and not so much at the bully him- or herself,” explains Peter J. Goodman, author of the book “We’re All Different But We’re All Kitty Cats.” “But if we had a chance to peek into the mind of the bully, we might be surprised at some of the things we would learn.”

There are some things that bullies don’t want people to know, including:

Thunder Burger & Bar to Hold Burger of the Month Contest, Open to the Public

Thunder Burger & Bar, located in the heart of Georgetown, is holding a “Burger of the Month” contest that is open to the public. Patrons are encouraged to submit their best burger idea for a chance to win a dinner for two, valued at up to $50. The burger ideas submitted will all be judged by the chef, and the one selected will not only win the dinner for two, but will also have that burger named for them and offered in the restaurant for the entire month.

“This is a great chance to share your favorite burger recipe and have it named after you, if we choose to use it for the month,” explains Ryan Fichter, Executive Chef of Thunder Burger. “We encourage people to get creative, get interesting, and don’t be afraid to submit your idea. You never know what the winning burger is going to include.”
