Celebrating the Meaning of the Fourth!

Last night my family and I watched the fireworks. It has long been my feeling that for national holidays such as these, that everything should be closed. July Fourth, Memorial Day, and so on, end up being retail sales days.

I believe people forget the meaning of the actual day, especially children who haven’t really learned the meaning yet. Men and women have died in order to protect our country. As more and more people from different lands come to the United States to live, it is of great importance that they know the meaning of what they are celebrating, and then in turn, can teach their families.

So while we may have celebrated these holidays it is not too late to celebrate what they stand for and to wish the home of the brave and the land of the free a very Happy Birthday.  If you have not already, have this conversation tonight at dinner!

It’s a wonderful time to talk about your family values and the values of our country.
