Prince George's County Hosts Annual Housing Fair

 

Landover, Md. – The Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development will be partnering with the Prince George’s County Association of Realtors, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Prince George’s County Human Relations Commission to host its annual housing fair at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Center, 8001 Sheriff Road on Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died serving our country. It’s a great time to honor the men and women who fight daily to keep America free.

It is normally a time when most people leave the city for a nearby beach and some much needed relaxation, to celebrate the start of summer and pool season. However, not all people leave.

We met Iraq War Veteran, Troy Yocum Friday morning at Modell’s in Bethesda. He is honoring his fellow military servicemen by hiking 7,000 miles across America with a goal of raising $5 million dollars to help military families in need.

Montgomery County’s Department of Recreation announces the seasonal opening of its seven outdoor pools at noon on Saturday, May 28.   

 

With weekend weather predictions in the 80 to 90 degree range, officials are expecting larger than usual crowds at area pools. 

Bethesda Preschool students raised more than $5,000 for LLS

Early this morning more than 250 preschool students gathered at Bethesda Country Day School in Bethesda, Md., to be recognized by a representative from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for their efforts in raising more than $5,000 for the Pennies for Patients campaign.

One of more than 400 participating schools in the Washington D.C. area, Bethesda Country Day School placed in the top 20 for the amount of money raised and greatly surpassed their original goal of $2,500.

“Pennies for Patients” is a nationwide fundraiser that raises money to help cure leukemia and other blood-relation cancers. Students of all ages collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters throughout the program.
