Wachovia Bank Robbery in Olney

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section and the FBI are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Olney. 

On Saturday, October 30, at approximately 10:21 a.m., 4th District officers responded to the Wachovia bank located at 16810 Georgia Avenue for a bank robbery that had just occurred.  The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank and pointed a weapon at the teller.  Prior to obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect struck the teller in the face with his handgun.  The suspect then fled from the bank by foot.  The teller was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.       

The armed suspect is described as a black male, between the ages of 25 and 35, between 6’02” and 6’04” tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds.  The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black sunglasses.
