OLNEY, Md. (WUSA) -- Good Counsel freshman Kyle Snyder has been wrestling since he was in kindergarten. Today, at 215 lbs., he has harnessed all his early years of practice on the mats into an impressive high school debut.

"I remember wrestling in some of the tournaments and just learning the basic moves, and I'm glad I started that early because I really think it's helped," said Snyder.

So far this season, Snyder is undefeated, has been ranked as one of the top 15 wrestlers in the country and captured first place at Delaware's prestigious Beast of the East Wrestling tournament in December.

Because of his weight class, Snyder often faces juniors and seniors on the mat. His coach, Skylar Saar, says that considering his weight class, Snyder's performance is "pretty incredible."

Snyder's next test of strength is this weekend at the Mount Mat Madness Tournament at the Community College of Baltimore County.
